THE END OF THE LIVING

I worked on creating this small game as my Final Year Project at Teesside University.
I used this project as a way to learn industry standard level design skills such as affordances and signifiers as well as using leading lines to show the player where to go next.

For the project I created a fictional city called Roseville, located in the United States of America. The player is tasked with searching the quarantine zones set up by the military for an experimental cure for her brother.

I learnt different skills whilst working on this project that will be able to be transferred to future projects.
-
The importance of affordances and signifiers within level design.
-
Leading lines
-
Breadcrumb technique to drip feed the player useful resources.
-
Landmarks
-
Setting up a character to have interacting systems such as combat and healing
-
Creating objectives and narrative to keep the player interested
-
Behaviour Trees and working with AI perception within Unreal Engine 4.
This is an example of a the blockout stage of Quarantine Zone #1 to the finalised version.

There were various stages of iteration that went into these areas.
